Want to Move Closer to an Airport?
Any piece that champions certain towns or cities will come up against some opposition, and for this reason I’m clarifying my disclaimer right now that this is all based on my opinion, one man’s rubbish tip will be another man’s palace so please respect my views and comment accordingly. Being located within the stone’s throw of an Airport has many positive points, not least being able to reach the terminal building quickly, easily and cheaply for travel or work purposes. It is highly likely that your town will be a more vibrant affluent and lively place if you live near an airport, here are a few places I have lived that are in close proximity to a major airport.
Crawley
One of the ‘new towns’ dotted around the neucleus of London, Crawley is a large town with an ever growing population and expanding residential, industrial and retail areas to accommodate. Many residents work at the airport in airport parking or Gatwick airport hotels. Crawley is a town on the up and with great transport links to London and the coast.
Harlow
Harlow is just a stone’s throw from Stanstead airport and like Crawley, is a new town built after WW2 to house the UKs growing population and ease congestion in London. Located in Essex on the M11 North-East of London. Despite being so close to the Urban Sprawl, Harlow is well know for its abundance of green spaces.
Altrincham
Located on the outskirts of greater Manchester, Altrincham houses a modest population and is located very close to Manchester Airport Hotels, a major source of employment for the locals. A 5 minute train ride from the middle of Manchester and Old Trafford, one of the most famous sports stadiums in the world, Altrincham is the perfect small town to escape the hustle and bustle of city life.
There you have it, three small towns that would make a great home if you are looking to relocate near to an airport. Choose wisely!
