The other meaning of change
“The definition of insanity is doing the same thing
over and over and expecting different results.”
Albert Einstein
These wisdom words are familiar to you, aren’t you ? We already know that we should get the same result if we did the same things. From years of experience we develop strongly held attitudes – ways of believing – that lead us to thoughts and actions that may no longer be valid or productive. But we may think from the other side. If we would like to expect different and better result, we should change. But the truth that sets us free first hurts to see.
Many fear change, due to fear of the unknown. We still expect a better result without having to step out of our comfort zone into what is unfamiliar and unknown and without considering that change can be the means to your goals, not a barrier to them.
There are really only three questions to ask about change:
- Why do we resist change?…and we do!…and
- How do we learn to embrace change and create positive momentum in our lives?
- Resistance – the way it is
Elbert Hubbard was right when he said, “the greatest mistake you can make is to be continually fearing you will make one.” And if we don’t change we’ll make a new one !
